Cumbrae Islanders Protest at Calmac’s Plan to Reduce the Summer Ferry Service

On Saturday I attended a protest by several hundred islanders upset at CalMac proposals to cut the summer ferry service to and from Cumbrae by 25%!

The photo was taken 10 minutes before everyone arrived and the event began, at which I jointly held a huge banner which said ‘FIONA HYSLOP SAVE OUR 15 MINUTE FERRY SERVICE!’

The Transport Secretary will meet CalMac on Wednesday. She previously rejected such proposals, which would reduce connectivity, impact the island’s economy, and make trips to the mainland for hospital appointments, shopping etc more difficult on busy summer days.
