Sunshine on Beith
Yesterday evening, with Provost Anthea Dickson and councillors Margaret Johnson and Donald L Reid, I was delighted to attend Cunninghame Choir’s wonderful spring concert, held in Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Beith.
Accompanied by Isobel Burnie and with Music Director/Pianist Maciej Granat – now in his 17th year with the choir – conducting, we heard an eclectic combination of music that was at times intense, uplifting and always enjoyable.
The topic for the songs was ‘sunshine,’ beginning with ‘O Radiant Dawn’ and ‘The Sunrise Mass’ before moving in the second half to ‘Sunrise, Sunset’ and ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ to ‘Here Comes Sun’ and ‘Sunshine on Leith.’
It was a perfectly sunny evening too!
Cunninghame Choir accepts new singers without experience and with no auditions. It’s a real community choir.
Their next concert will be at 3pm on 30 November in Beith Community Centre. Rehearsals begin on 27 August.
