The Open University is Life-changing
At the Scottish Parliament I spoke to Keith Robson, Senior Public Affairs Manager at The Open University (OU) Scotland to discuss how they support people across Cunninghame North and Scotland to develop their knowledge, acquire news skills and achieve life-changing qualifications.
For over fifty years, the OU has championed widening access to education: their flexible distance-learning model and open entry requirements ensure that anyone regardless of background or circumstances can pursue a degree.
And 23% of OU students lived in remote or rural areas including Scotland’s islands.
Flexible supported part-time study is core to their offer with 73% of students working either full-time or part-time alongside their studies.
It’s therefore not surprising that last year the OU was ranked first among all Scottish higher education institutions for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey.
