People across Scotland continue to rate their experience of hospital care as highly positive.
In the latest Inpatient Experience Survey, 20,000 people answered a range of questions covering topics such as hospital environment, staff and operations.
Overall results show 86% rate their full experience positively, with more than a third of people giving their care full marks.
People were particularly pleased about the staff who cared for them, with positive ratings at 91%; the highest level since 2014.
88% of people said that staff listened to them, discussing their condition and treatment in a way they could understand.
Of people in hospital for an operation or procedure, 86% said the risks and benefits were explained beforehand in a way that they could understand, up 4% on 2014.
Cabinet Secretary for Health, Jeane Freeman MSP said:
“Our NHS does a great job. Patients tell us that our hard working staff provide high levels of hospital care, focused on good communication and a personalised approach.
“We’re determined to go further and continue learning from patient feedback so we can keep improving services.”
Kenneth Gibson MSP added:
“Any organisation is only as good as its staff and the dedication of NHS staff is clear to see, as this independent survey shows.
“Working in a demanding environment, staff across the health service will continue to provide the high level of care patients expect backed by increasing resources delivered by the SNP Government.”
