Kenneth Gibson MSP dazzled in pink at the Scottish Parliament to encourage constituents to take part in Wear it Pink on Friday 19 October.
Wear it Pink is in its 17th year and takes place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to date has raised over £31 million towards Breast Cancer Now’s important research.
Kenneth said:
“Sadly, most of us know someone affected by this devastating disease. My twin sister Janis was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago. Happily, she made a full recovery. However, despite increasing survival rates, breast cancer is often fatal. In each of the last five years an average of 349 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in Ayrshire, with 78 losing their lives each year.
“I am therefore pleased to Wear it Pink again this year and like to urge constituents to show their support for Breast Cancer Now on 19 October by joining in the fun and fundraising.
“As you can see from my photograph, taking part is easy; all it takes is an additional splash of pink to your normal outfit! It’s time to pull on some pink, and support Breast Cancer Now’s vital research.”
