At the Dalry Bypass - opened on 30 May by Transport Secretary Michael Matheson MSP - was the sprightly 100-year old Mrs Mary McInnes, who has lived in Dalry all of her life.
Also present were members of the community, contractors, local councillors and pupils from Dalry Primary and St Palladius Primary, who did an excellent job helping Mrs McInnes.
Kenneth Gibson MSP commented:
“This is a great day for Dalry and North Ayrshire.
“Special thanks go out to all those who worked so hard to constructing the Bypass; Farrans Roadbridge Project Manager Brian Snow; Gavin Dyet who had responsibility on behalf of Transport Scotland and Community Liaison Manager Angela Newlands, who has become a well-known face in Dalry thanks to her accessibility and community interaction and all the employees who worked so hard to deliver this much needed road seven months ahead of schedule.
“It was a delight to travel on the newly opened road, following Mrs McInnes, the very first member of the public to be driven on the Bypass.”
Pictured with Kenneth are SNP Councillors Joy Brahim (Dalry & West Kilbride) and Scott Davidson (Kilwinning), Transport Secretary Michael Matheson MSP and NAC Executive Director of Economy and Communities Karen Yeomans.
