Kenneth with local volunteers Gerard, Annabelle and Frank, at the annual Cumbrae Litter Pick he organised last Sunday.
Kenneth said:
“It was a beautiful sunny day and we were out for two and a half hours.
“A few years ago cans, bottles and cigarette packets dominated. On Sunday at least two thirds of the litter was composed of plastic. Sadly, it’s clear that the message of David Attenborough’s Blue Planet is not getting through to everyone!
“Hopefully, such events across Scotland will register with at least some of the people who currently care little for the environment. Thankfully, I believe the majority of people – of all ages and in all communities – do care and, over time, that majority will continue to grow.
"I thank North Ayrshire Council for providing litter pick sticks, bin bags and agreeing to collect the rubbish and Keep Scotland Beautiful for providing tabards."
