An exhibition of magnificent photographs is available to see, free of charge, at the Scottish Parliament, Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 5pm until 24 August.
Some 4,738 photographers from 129 countries submitted 78,801 photos to be judged by a jury of photography professionals independent of the World Press Photo Foundation and exhibited in 100 cities in 45 countries. The purpose of these exhibitions is “to connect the world to the stories that matter.”
A small selection of seven photographs can be seen here, taken by:
- Ingo Arendt (see above)
- Terrell Groggins
- Catalina Martin-Chico
- Bence Máté
- Finbarr O’Reilly
- Pedro Pardo
- Brent Stirton
Kenneth Gibson MSP said:
“It is often a delight and occasionally deeply disturbing to view the wide range of photos shown at the World Press Photo Exhibition.
“These display the world in a heady mixture of beauty, ugliness, vibrancy and chaos.
“I heartily recommend a visit to this exhibition if in Edinburgh between now and 24 August.”
