Climate Challenge Fund Now Open

Following the previous success of the SNP Government’s Climate Challenge Fund (CCF), which launched in 2008 and has already awarded £101 million of grants to 1,097 projects across Scotland, applications are now open for the next round of funding.

Community-led organisations may now apply for up to £150,000 of funding per year for 2019/20 and 2020/21, to help Scottish projects that reduce local carbon emissions. These include energy efficiency improvements to community owned buildings, home energy efficiency advice, lower carbon travel options, community growing initiatives and schemes to tackle waste.

Arts groups, sports clubs, community councils, faith groups, student unions, local charities, food groups, community-led housing associations, development trusts, youth groups, and schools have all previously benefited from the fund.

Kenneth Gibson MSP said:

“We’ve already seen the benefits of this fund in North Ayrshire, with Arran Eco Savvy's Energy Challenge receiving an £112,151 award to support their project, for example. This is helping households on Arran to improve their energy efficiency through offering domestic energy audits, including thermal imaging and the loan of energy monitors.

“Giving local people the opportunity to design and implement the emission-busting projects which suit their needs best is a vital part of Scotland’s transition to a low carbon society, and I hope that more North Ayrshire projects will benefit from this round of funding.”
