Mr George Bell, Foodbank Co-ordinator, Beith Parish Church, who for seven years organised collections for North Ayrshire Foodbank, has again organised collections, now pandemic restrictions have eased.
These take place today until 5pm and tomorrow, Saturday 19 November, from 10am to 5pm at Tesco in Kilbirnie.
Kenneth Gibson MSP said:
“George and his dedicated team of volunteers are doing a great job for people in North Ayrshire who are struggling to put food on the table.
“Increasing home deliveries of food by supermarkets since the pandemic began have reduced Tesco’s footfall and thereby the quantity of essential items being collected, so all donations are even more appreciated than before.
“Items needed ranging from tinned food, pasta and cereal to UHT milk, meat pies, tea, coffee and Christmas selection boxes for children.
“Patricia Gibson MP and I donated a trolley of food and urge anyone who shops at Tesco to donate an item or two if they can. As Tesco themselves say, ‘Every Little Helps!’”
