Last Wednesday, Kenneth - who worked for British Steel for more than four years, including at Dalzell and, briefly, Clydebridge more than 35 years ago - asked how many jobs have been saved by the Dalzell Historical Industrial Transaction.
Ivan McKee MSP, Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise replied that 140 direct jobs had been saved as well as many more in the supply chain and in the wider communities, that depend on the plants at Dalzell and Clydebridge.
He confirmed that the SNP Government will have ongoing conversations with the plants about how they can take advantage of the growing net zero economy and continue to innovate and provide a strong future in the rapidly evolving steel sector.
