On Monday night last, Andy Crossan and James Anderson of Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd gave a presentation to the Isle of Arran Ferry Committee on the progress being made in building the new £47 million ferry that will sail from Ardrossan to Brodick.
Following a multi-million pound investment, Ferguson Marine are using state of the art technology to build the new ferry, which will carry 127 cars, up to 1,000 passengers and be completed by early summer 2018.
The detailed plans were discussed and deliberated over.
Said Kenneth Gibson MSP:
"I am delighted that work is proceeding apace to ensure the new ferry is completed on schedule. It will be an impressive and robust vessel, more able to withstand winter conditions than existing vessels and with greater fuel efficiency. It will replace the Caledonian Isles which will in turn replace the MV Isle of Arran, providing an improved service to both islanders and visitors all year round."
