Ryanair is adding four new services from Glasgow Airport to its winter schedule, to Spanish resorts Alicante, Malaga, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.
The budget airline is also launching three new services from Prestwick, where it is currently the only carrier, to Barcelona and Madrid and Faro, Portugal.
Ryanair’s Kenny Jacobs said:
"These new routes will deliver over 1.8 million customers each year and support 1,400 jobs at Glasgow and Prestwick airports”.
Added Kenneth Gibson MSP:
"I welcome these new routes and the jobs they support.
"The UK Treasury agreed in Fiscal Framework negotiations to allow the devolution of Air Passenger Duty from April 2018.
"Studies have shown that halving this duty, as the SNP is pledged to do, will deliver new routes, 3,800 new jobs and £1,000 million a year to the Scottish Economy as Scotland becomes more competitive. It also means Scots won't have the expense and hassle of travelling to Manchester, Gatwick or Newcastle to catch the flights of their choice!"
