I was delighted to officially open the new Gogo Footbridge in Largs on 06 June, following the closure in June 2020 of the previous bridge and its demolition, due to safety concerns.
The new bridge was secured with £50,000 from Stakis Forestry LLP and will allow walkers to enjoy Halkshill Estate to the full once more.
Ultimately, this will join a safety link path along the A760 joining the Blairpark grounds track and improve access through the new boundary fence between Douglas Park and Castlehill Fort, benefitting those visiting the local beauty spot.
Thanks to Andros Stakis, Gary Carter of Tilhill and Adam McLean of Gresham House for delivering this project with the support of Largs Community Council and Halkshill Access Group.
The bridge was dedicated ‘In loving memory of Aldo and Sandra Nardini and for the enjoyment of all the people of Largs and beyond'.
