
On Thursday, in the Scottish Parliament I pledged my support for a National Strategy for the Prevention of Young Sudden Cardiac Deaths, an issue I have been involved in over many years.
Recently, a memorial fund has been set up by the family of former Scottish Parliament Researcher, David Hill, to help CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death through supporting CRY’s screening programme.
David died suddenly, without warning, whilst playing rugby for the Scottish Parliamentary Team against the Irish Dail and Senead XV team, on a sunny day in Dublin on 19th March 2022, at the age of just 30.
The Money raised by the David Hill Memorial Fund will go towards the screening of young people within the local community.
Any young person aged between 14-35 wishing to have their heart checked can do so through CRY. Fill out a form via the following link and you will be emailed when a screening becomes available in your area:
