New research from the multinational professional services brand PwC has named Scotland as the most productive manufacturing area of the UK.
Output per hour in Scotland is 19% higher than the UK average, at £47 per hour.
The success was attributed to key successful Scottish sub-sectors including food and drink, energy and pharmaceuticals.
With room for even more growth in manufacturing productivity, a £17.5 million funding package will be delivered by the SNP Government this year to help establish Scotland as one of Europe’s leading start-up economies.
