Scottish Sport Working Together to Save Lives

On 12 December I was delighted to join the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, the Scottish Professional Football League, Edinburgh City Football Club and new British bantamweight boxing champion Kash Farooq to discuss the need for blood donations, especially at this time of year..

These six organisations are supported by NHS Scotland in working together to bring the importance of blood donations to the forefront of discussions with young adults in sport. This sports-focused and collaborative approach has the potential to encourage thousands of young people from all walks of life to give blood.

NHS Scotland is working to encourage young adults to give blood to save a life as around half of current blood donors are from people aged 45 and over.
