Arran residents are invited to join the First Minister and her Cabinet as they meet on the Isle of Arran on Monday 27 August to celebrate the contribution that rural and island communities make to the Scottish economy.
Cabinet Secretaries will take part in a full programme of events on Arran before participating in a public discussion at Arran High School, led by the First Minister.
The event is the latest in a series of more than 46 Cabinet meetings in towns and cities across Scotland, including Aberdeen, Alloa, Cumnock, Cupar, Inverness, Oban and Ullapool. This will be the first island Cabinet meeting since the passage of the SNP Government's Islands (Scotland) Act 2018.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP said:
"This is an opportunity for me and my Cabinet to meet local residents, community groups and businesses on the Isle of Arran as we mark the Year of Young People.
"I would encourage everyone in the local community to attend our discussion at Arran High School and share your views on the key issues that matter to you.”
Added Kenneth Gibson MSP:
“I am delighted that the Scottish Cabinet is coming to Arran and – unlike the UK Cabinet when they ventured north to Aberdeen some years ago – will engage directly with islanders on what will undoubtedly be a host of issues.”
The public discussion will run from 14:00 to 15:30 at Arran High School, Lamlash, Isle of Arran, KA27 8NG. Entry to the public discussion is free, but seats are limited and must be booked in advance.
