Support Fund for Freelance Creative Professionals Now Open for Applications

Creative freelancers in Scotland can now apply for SNP Government Funding to help mitigate financial difficulties incurred through the latest wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

The £8 million Cancellation Fund for Creative Freelancers is for those based in Scotland who work in the arts, screen and creative sector and who are experiencing immediate financial difficulty due to the cancellation or deferral of events because of COVID-19, that were due to take place in the period 27 November 2021 – 31 March 2022.

The fund offers a one-off award of between £500 and £2000 to those who are most deeply impacted and disadvantaged by the cancellation or postponement of activity because of the current emergency situation, by providing a contribution to partially offset its adverse impact.

Kenneth Gibson MSP said:

“The SNP Government fully understands the importance of supporting individuals who are in a vulnerable position whilst trying to keep Scotland’s creative, culture and arts sectors going.

“Creative Scotland, which administers the fund on behalf of the SNP Government, anticipates high levels of demand for this fund, so while it will be dispersed in two tranches of £4 million each, I encourage any freelance creative professionals in North Ayrshire to check if they are eligible today and if so, apply as soon as possible.”
