Local MSP Kenneth Gibson has offered his support for this weekend’s Small Business Saturday, 03 December, which encourages people to shop locally and support their local businesses. Kenneth will visit local businesses in Cunninghame North as part of Small Business Saturday and pointed to SNP Government action to support small businesses across Scotland.
There are 3,145 small enterprises across North Ayrshire, employing 13,100 people and contributing £1,081 million last year to the local economy. Commenting, Kenneth said: “Small Business Saturday is an excellent initiative. Last year’s event saw £623 million spent across local businesses in the UK.
Small businesses are the lifeblood of Scotland’s economy, supporting jobs and growth, as well as providing invaluable services. With over 3,000 businesses in North Ayrshire, there’s plenty of opportunity for people to get out and shop locally. “The SNP Government has always made efforts to support small businesses, from introducing and extending the small business bonus to launching a growth fund worth £500 million.
“I encourage all constituents to shop at local businesses this Saturday and beyond.” More on the Small Business Saturday campaign here.
