Beith’s New Skate Park

This beautiful sunny morning I was delighted to attend the official opening of Beith’s new skatepark at Orr’s Trust Public Park.

North Ayrshire Council Provost Anthea Dickson and skateboarder and instructor William McConnell jointly did the honours.

Beith and District Community Council has long supported this initiative, with Beith Playpark Action Group and its tenacious Secretary Kathryn Young playing a leading role over the last three years to make the new skatepark a reality.

The funding, £216,000, came from sources ranging from North Ayrshire Council to sportscotland and is an investment in the young people of Beith and beyond, dozens of whom turned out this morning.
