Largs Thistle Launches Community Minibus
This afternoon I had the pleasure of Joining the players and staff of Largs Thistle and guests at Barrfields Park to celebrate the launch of their Community Minibus.
The minibus will be fully utilised not only by the club, but by schools and organisations in Largs, Cumbrae, Fairlie Skelmorlie and West Kilbride, subject to licence and safety checks.
Largs Thistle will manage the bus and described the scheme as an important step forward for the club, schools, and the wider community.
The project was made possible thanks to a £63,000 grant from North Ayrshire Council’s Community Investment Fund.
Largs Thistle’s Tiffany Irvin led the scheme and believes it will be transformational for young people, providing greater opportunities to participate in education and sport, boosting mental health, while encouraging local talent.
Janet Muir, who conceived the idea and raised it at Largs Community Council, joined in today’s celebrations and was warmly thanked for her initiative. She had previously raised funds to bring a Boys’ Brigade minibus to the town.
