Supporting Ocean and Marine Science in Scotland

I was delighted to attend the reception on ocean and marine research in Scotland at the Scottish Parliament.

The event, held in partnership with the National Oceanography Centre and the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland (MASTS), brought together leading experts to discuss the vital role marine science plays in our understanding of the natural world.

Our marine environment is one of our greatest assets. The research being carried out in Scotland contributes not only to our conservation efforts but also to global scientific understanding.

Collaboration between policymakers and scientific institutions has undoubtedly helped to put Scotland at the forefront of ocean and marine research.

The event also marked 100 years since the original Discovery ship was designated a Royal Research Ship, celebrating the legacy of the Discovery Investigations launched from Dundee in 1925.
