I visited Edinburgh City Chambers to celebrate the National Day of Taiwan on Wednesday and bumped into my SNP colleague East Ayrshire Provost Jim Todd, amongst many others.
Taiwan has a robust democracy and strong economy but must live with frequent sabre-rattling by China.
However, Taiwan has solid support from parties across the Scottish Parliament and many nations beyond.
