NAC receives £867,000 from SNP Government Winter Support Fund

Since its launch in October 2021, the SNP Government has allocated £867,000 to North Ayrshire Council to distribute amongst low income households, helping to support them through winter.

In addition 16 charities active in North Ayrshire and across Scotland were awarded a share of over £6 million to provide support to low income families with direct assistance for living costs and initiatives such as debt advice and parenting helplines.

These resources are part of the SNP Government’s £41 million Winter Support Fund, which alongside £25 million Flexible Funding for Local Authorities also contains a £10 million Fuel Insecurity Fund and £6 million funding for voluntary organisations.

The Winter Support Fund aims to help people on low incomes, children and people at risk of homelessness against a backdrop of rising living and fuel costs.

Kenneth Gibson MSP said:

“I know families across North Ayrshire are struggling financially with the rising cost of living and the impact of the pandemic.

“The rise in COVID transmissions with the Omicron variant has only added to the challenge, which is why the SNP Government is providing support to those who need it most.

“Trusted charity partners such as Cash for Kids and volunteers across North Ayrshire continue to play a crucial role and we all appreciate and value of what they do.”
