
Since its introduction in September 2019 until 31 December 2021, the SNP Government’s Funeral Support Fund has helped 495 North Ayrshire families to hold funerals for their loved ones.
Eligible applicants can receive up to £1,665 to help with the costs of a burial or cremation and expenses such as travel and flowers.
Payments made across North Ayrshire totalled £906,354.

“It is heartening to know that 495 people and families across North Ayrshire have been helped by the Funeral Support Fund over the last two years and I encourage anyone who think they might qualify, to find out more and apply via:

“Or by calling the Funeral Support Payment team on 0800 182 2222.
“You can apply for the payment up to 6 months after a funeral has taken place, although if you could not apply within this timescale because of COVID-19, Social Security Scotland will accept your application as on time.”
