On Tuesday I spoke in my colleague Colin Beattie’s Debate about Holodomor Memorial Day.
The Holodomor, literally meaning ‘extermination by hunger,’ was a man-made and deliberate campaign of starvation and violence against the Ukrainian people, carried out by Stalin’s Soviet regime, leading to the death of millions of Ukrainians in 1932 and 1933.
The Holodomor was a genocide carried out against the Ukrainian people and I urged the Scottish Government to recognise it as such.
