Third sector organisations supporting adult survivors of childhood abuse are now eligible to apply for funding totalling up to £2.23 million.
The Survivors of Childhood Abuse Support (SOCAS) Fund will be allocated to successful existing organisations supporting adult survivors between October 2024 and March 2026.
Established in 2020, the SOCAS Fund has already made a significant impact, aiding over 16,000 survivors through the efforts of 29 dedicated organisations.
The previous allocation supported local charity 'Break the Silence,' enabling them to assist over 2000 survivors in North and East Ayrshire.
Break the Silence were able to provide a myriad of support options including counselling, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), complementary therapies, group activities, advocacy support, peer support, and volunteering opportunities.
