Beith Citizen of the Year 2025

On Friday night I attended an enjoyable night of music and conversation in a packed Beith Bowling Club, culminating in Beith Citizen of the year being awarded to Shona Pennie, recognising over 40 years of dedicated voluntary work.

Beith and District Community Council worked hard to re-establish the award and 16 people were nominated, such is the wide range of people delivering time and energy to their community.

Tom Urie sang requests brilliantly and with gusto for 90 minutes to entertain us.

Provost Anthea Dickson recognised Kathryn Young and Robin and Lesley Menzies as highly commended nominees before presenting Shona with the award.

Shona was a very popular winner.

James Waite was an excellent compere and the bowling club showed once again what a great venue, and invaluable asset it is to Beith.
