Last November 28,683 hospital operations took place across Scotland – the highest number carried out in a month since reporting began.
Local MSP Kenneth Gibson said:
“This record high shows not only the huge demands being placed on our health service but the level of resource dedicated to meeting that challenge.
"Under this SNP Government the number of people working within the NHS has risen to record numbers, with more health care professionals delivering care for the people of Scotland. This includes a 10% increase in medical staff working within surgical specialities.
“The SNP Government has also announced it will invest £200 million to create six new elective treatment centres able to carry out even more medical procedures, allowing a greater number of people to be treated promptly and effectively."
