North Ayrshire Council has been awarded £59,428 in the first round of the SNP Government’s Recycling Improvement Fund.
These resources will be used to improve North Ayrshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centres, including the installation of infrastructure to support reuse of furniture and bed mattresses.
The fund aims to support projects that increase recycling, while preparing for future developments, including Scotland’s Deposit Return Scheme.
Kenneth Gibson MSP said:
“It’s great to see North Ayrshire included in the first round of the Recycling Improvement Fund which aims to accelerate progress towards Scotland’s ambitious waste and recycling targets and net zero commitment.
“As per the 2021/22 Programme for Government, the SNP Government will continue to work in collaboration with industry, local government and environmental groups to develop a route map to achieving its targets to 2025 and beyond, and consider the role of incineration and fiscal incentives.
